Training Week

I was packed with training last week.

Monday and Tuesday - Effective Business writing Skills
Wednesday - Presentation skills
Friday - How to charm your listeners: The Art of making small talks

U know sometimes training can be quite tiring. You jus sit down there... listen... and there you go... eyes are getting heavy, heavier and close. It's very rude to sleep in the training. This simply shows the trainer that " you are boring to the core"
That's Tom( Trainer) and me

BUT

the training that i attended were good especially the one how to charm your listeners. It was held over at SP. I realised that not many companies are willingly to sponsor their staffs to talks, seminars or courses as i'm te only one there that was sponsored. Others for out their own $$ to go for this kinda upgrading seminar. The presentor was a young and vibrant guy, Eric Feng. He is really someone who is able to catch your attention throughout the whole session. He talks about stories that relates closely to what we should be adapting, using hand-ons methods to let us go through how things should go about. The way to start a conversation with strangers... Something that will come in handy to everyone.

We are supposed to "make small talks" with the other participants during the break time. Eric made it a point that everyone has to make an effort to start the conversation. Wonder why everyone jus came to talk to each other very naturally, adopting what he has taught us. It jus comes so naturally. It's true!!!

Go and check it out his webbie !

New staffs

I went over to airport to pick the new staffs that our hotel has recruited on the previous recruitment trip in Malaysia. Supposed to 8 people from kuching and Kota Kinabalu... but by 1pm, i only have 6 of them with me.

Argh!!!!

Beats me! Where have the other 2 gone to? Or did they even board the plane at all??? I was running lilke a mad woman in the airport to the Malaysia airline counter to ask to check. Some of the staffs are pretty unfriendly and told me that she can't do anything for me. Finally got help from this lady from the Business class counter to help me out with that.

1 found... the other one never turn up at all. * shrugs*

According to his frenz, they said that he didnt turn up at the airport at all. Not to waste any time further, we gotta get going to their respective "new home". The one that i'm expecting the most didn't turn up. Boo.... u know why the guy jus simply leave me a very very deep impression and i was expecting to see him at the airport... coz his name is called Mcdonald. I wonder why did his parents even tot of naming him Mcdonald. Whenever i tried to make a phone call to Malaysia, the phone operator will ask you who you are calling to. When i say Mcdonald, they went silence. I know it's weird.... i found it extremely amusing when i first came across his profile.

At least, it's something unique about him - His name.

Annie's Birthday

Last monday, we were busy planning Annie's birthday. I'm not putting in much of the idea as Eileen has already tot of where to go and what to buy for her. We chip in to get a Coach bag for her and brought her over to Marina South Pier - Pier Eleven. Such a romantic place... i guess it's such a pity to be with 6 other girls there to celebrate her birthday.

The ambience there was perfect!!! BUT food was totally lousy. At least for the one that i ate.... some beer battered fish. It's awful... especially the fish came with this jelly like thick layer which made me feel like vomitting. I suspect it's the fish skin... Yucks! Stuffs there are quite ex as well. We are practically paying for the nice view and atmosphere. Service isnt good too. It took them almost half an hour to get us ice water. -_-"

And nicest food that we ate for the night was the cake that was bought from our hotel. Ruben is good pastry chef!!! The cake was really nice and i've decided to order one for my daddy's birthday next week.

Other than the coach bag, Lynette got her a hand-made card with our photos there. U know jus in case things dun turn out well, i offered an alternative plan - to buy a card instead. Hahaha... i'm someone who has no talent in my art & craft. Afterall, annie likes the card that she made. It's the thoughts that count and made the card beautiful.

Took lots and lots of pictures.... to be uploaded soon!

Ed's Wedding

Here's the pictures that we took on Pauline's farewell meal. Hope everything is smooth for her in Perth.

Annie was saying that the pic was very nice. BUT... she was using the phone while taking the pic. I wanted to develop nicer pic. The case is i brought my camera that day and the battery went flat after taking this photo. I forgot to charge!!!

And we were supposed to have 20% discount over at the soup restaurant in DFS. I didnt know about that till they proceeded with the payment. So Eileen was saying that we can have 20 % discount coz we are working at Royal Plaza. The stupid cheena girl said that it's too late. Who do u mean by too late??? Transaction can be void wat!!! She said that it's their policy there that transaction cannot be void. What kinda rubbish is that??? Pissed!!!!!!!!

Switch the mood to some joyous- Edwin's Wedding

Ed's wedding was held last wed at Swissotel Stamford. I keep saying that it's westin though it have changed its name. Westin sounds so much nicer. Personal Preference!

I brought all my barang barang to my workplace. It's so damn heavy. Though of driving but the previous day i ask Annie about the parking fee in the hotel. She told me " parking is $3 per hour" My goodness!!! If i work for 8 hours, my parking for the day is $24. And she claimed that this rate is one of the cheapest in orchard area. Forget it... i guess take a cab is even cheaper. So in the end, i didnt drive. I left my stuffs in the office and went to the hotel with Sherin.

@ The reception

We were the receptionists for that day. Pretty fun doing that... gotta =D a lot a lot. Side track for a while... that day i was going to school. As usual, i got a cab from the hotel lobby and headed down to school. The cabbie started a conversation with me, asking me am i going to sch... blah blah blah... And he asked me " So where do u work?"

Me: The hotel that you pick me from

Cabbie: Oh that hotel... work as what? Receptionist?

Me: -_-" I'm the HR exec in the hotel.

Sometimes i wonder.... hahahaha.... what's the point of studying so much when pple see u as a receptionist??? Certainly i know the benefits of studying.... I will complete it yeah?

OKie dokie... back to Ed's wedding. Sherin and me werent allocated to sit with Kwok. Poor thing he was all alone and i guess that's the reason why he decided to stay in the hotel room and miss the dinner.

After everything, Kwok was nice enough to send me back to hotel to get my stuffs and send us back respectively. Thanks Kwok!!!

And lastly..... We love posing with Ed's Wedding Bears!!~~~

Random posts

Sorry for the lack of posts as i was really busy. From work to school to assignment to project... 1 week 7 days aren't enough for me at all. Barely have the time to go out for a movie or chill out at holland V with Sherin. That supposed to be my weekly activity! Let me start with last Saturday... Went over to my Cousin's place at Tanah Merah. After marriage, they got themselves a condo and it was our 1st time visiting. No extravagant furnitures but Small and cosy place i would say. Good enough... it contains the elements of what home should be like especially they have this leisure room. I simply love it. Next time, i will like to have a room like that next time.... to relax after work with my future partner. * grinz*

It's the 7th day of New Year which I was told that it's called Ren ri. A day whereby everyone grow one year older... hence, all eating outlets were all full. My family and aunt's family wanna go to jumbo at East coast to eat. To avoid the crowd and long queue, my cousin called to book reservation. Guess what.... they dun entertain pple who called in for reservation and gonna make a trip down. So dumb! No choice but my aunt trusted the quality of food that jumbo could provide us, we ended waiting for around 45 mins to have our meal. Mm.... they made lots of mistakes like serving us the small portion when we ordered the big one, gave us the kang kong which tastes yucky and requested to change another plate of Kang kong. When my uncle was telling the waitress about the veg, she was like " so what you wan me to do now?" Obviously change a new one for us. She replied " but u pple ate before already." u get my point? We have to eat before even being able to tell you what went wrong with the dish. Jus by seeing how could i able to know the taste?

-_-"

But afterall, the dinner was pretty okie excluding those forgivable mistakes and attitudes given. I could understand when the restaurant was full house, things will get a little messy.

And...some days last week, u can never see the gold stripes of hairs of Rachel as.... i have dyed them all back to dark brown. Time for a change... wanna be the goody two shoes rachel again. I used to have tanned skin tone and i tot the tanned skin and highlighted blonde hair would look nice. As the time goes by, i play lesser and lesser of tennis, there goes my tanned skin. Perhaps when my tanned skin is back, there's when my blonde highlighted hair will be back.

And of coz... i have been saying that my dear colleague is flying off to Perth. Last sat, she left. Everyone went to airport to send her off but i have to do my project, unable to make time for it. Not that my project is more important but the deadline is nearing. My group has not get moving for the entire project. But i did make an effort to go down to the hotel to pass to Annie a gift for Pauline. It's a simple yet meaningful gift. A picture of me, Eileen ( My Asst Manager), Annie, Jill, Vera and of coz the main character Pauline herself taken at the soup restaurant the previous day.

I will be attending Ed's wedding today at Swissotel Stamford. Most prob there will be more photos but..... pray hard... connection is fine for me to load them and blog!

Random Post of pictures with My Cousin and Sherin.
